~ CBS News Report: Las Vegas With The Shaffers ~ My wife and I won a 4 day trip to Las Vegas for Super Bowl weekend 2003. The local CBS affiliate, WTOL-TV11 ran a contest, interviewing more then 400 couples, looking for people that were "in the know" about Las Vegas.We flew out there, along with two other couples, news director, reporter, cameraman and about 3,000 pounds of misc. video equipment for 4 days. You'll also see an appearence by the Palms poker room manager and fellow chip collector Gene Trimble. Much of the video footage was filmed at the Palms Casino. ~ Chip Collecting Special Segment On CBS TV-11 ~ While out in Las Vegas with the TV reporter and camera crew, the news director became quite interested in the fact that I was a collector of casino chips. He wasn't aware that people would actually choose NOT to turn them in for cash but rather collect them instead. Thus was born the idea of a special TV segment on Chip Collecting. Although the main focus of the report was of me, Gene Trimble was also featured. The majority of the filming was done in my home with our local CBS Television newscaster Jerry Anderson.
