2005  St. Thomas

There are no casinos at the present time on St. Thomas. I found this strange, since it's one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and casinos have worked so amazingly well for the economy on other caribbean islands.

St. Thomas has for many years been an extrememly popular island with tourism, and I'm assuming that they probably don't want to mess up a good thing by bringing gambling in. I can't really say I blame them. Overall, the island was a pleasure to visit and a joy to behold.

A short 20 minute ferry ride will take you to St. John, which is one of the most beautiful islands in the entire caribbean. I took my rental car for the ferry ride and spent the day on St. John and loved every minute. It was on the way back to the St Thomas that I noticed a small sticker on the sun visor of the car stating that "This rental Car may Not Leave the Island of St. Thomas" .

a perfect example of one of the magnificent bays on St. John.

The color of the water here is like a swimming pool.

This picture does absolutely nothing to answer the age old question of "Why did the chicken cross the road?" I watched him closely to see if he had some sort of reason. As far as I could tell, his trip was just to get to the other side.

A nice shot of one of the cruise ships taken from high atop one of the mountains. There's a little sunset bar where the view is spectacular.

Ahhhh, another beautiful caribbean sunset.

an old church

Nice ass. Colorful too.

Privately owned property. Maybe this is the gardner's house?

Another happy face on the island.

A humming bird I stumbled upon.

The old ruins of a sugar cane plantation on the island.

Another of the sugar cane plantation. The tall structure is all that remains of the large windmill which was used to grind up the cane.

I just can't stop taking sunset pictures.

An extremely large iguana who was a regular in the area where I was swminning everyday. From nose to tail he is close to five feet long.

The fort.

Dog biscuits are the perfect treat to bring the fish running. An underwater camera came in handy to capture the feeding frenzy.
