2004  St. Kitts, West Indies

I spent nine days on the island of St. Kitts in the British West Indies over the Holidays this year.  Below are some of the details of the present state of gaming on the island along with some pictures.

Above is the entrance to the Royal Beach Casino

Presently, there is only one casino operating on St. Kitts.   The Royal Beach Casino is on the property of the Marriott Resort, and although the name is similar, it is not the same casino as the St. Kitts Royal Casino, which was on the property of the Jack Tar Resort, and is now closed.

As I was informed during my visit, The Marriot Resort bought the Jack Tar Resort property including the golf course and casino, and build the new fancy Marriott Resort across the street.

The Jack Tar Resort presently lays empty and only one lone security guard is present. I was told that there is rumor that the Jack Tar Resort and casino will again be reopening, but I have nothing to sustantiate that rumor. If the Marriott owns the property, I would seriously doubt they would go for another casino being right across the street. Right now, they have a captive audience.

There are more monkeys living on the island then people. Timothy Beach resort is at the base of Timmothy Hill, which is one of the most monkey popluated places on the island. The monkeys comedown each morning and evening and will come right up and graciously take fruit from your hand.

What's an island trip without sunset pictures

An unfriendly Mongoose I ran into while doing a full day hike to the top of the volcano.

The trip to the far side of the island and to Turtle Beach.

Lots of interesting critters on the island.
